The CMS Emergency Management Rule, effective November 2017 for the 11 categories of covered providers, sets national preparedness requirements for natural and man-made disasters and coordination with federal, state, tribal, regional and local systems. It focuses on safeguarding people, maintaining business continuity and protecting physical resources.
This 60-minute webinar reviews the rule's scope and the updates made since, including the focus on senior leadership's role.
All-hazards planning must now include emerging infectious diseases such as influenza, Zika and Ebola, which can change protocols for early identification, isolation, PPE, infectious waste and staff education. The session also covers alternate power and portable generators, medication storage, tracking displaced patients, alternate care sites and 1135 waivers, succession planning and continuity of operations.
WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?
Updates to the CMS requirements touch areas that many existing plans do not cover. This session helps healthcare organizations close those gaps and meet the requirements for leadership oversight.
It suits senior healthcare leaders responsible for emergency management, clinical and non-clinical facilities leaders, emergency managers, safety directors, accreditation specialists and system leadership.
