The most direct way to learn what keeps employees is to ask them. A stay interview is a one-on-one conversation between a manager and a valued employee about why they stay and what might make them leave. This 60-minute stay interviews webinar shows how to run them well.
In an effective 30-minute stay interview, the manager asks structured questions in a relaxed, conversational way: why the person joined, how well their goals are being met, what they enjoy most and least, whether they have enough room to grow, and what would tempt them away. It is not a performance review.
Compared with satisfaction surveys, stay interviews allow two-way conversation, give a deeper view of each person's motivation, and let managers reinforce the positives and address concerns quickly.
WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?
A Harvard Business Review article, 'How to Keep Your Top Talent', warns that 25% of top talent plans to leave within a year, and about a third of employees admit to coasting. Exit interviews come too late to help. Stay interviews happen before anyone thinks of leaving, so you can strengthen what works and fix frustrations early.
This session suits CEOs, COOs, HR vice presidents, chief learning officers, directors, managers, supervisors, team leaders and HR professionals.
